The most recent vinyl re issue of the dark side of the moon is the 2016 remastered edition on heavyweight 180gr vinyl. The result is a brand new dark side of the moon that one could argue truly fulfills the original intent of the band. I auditioned it in my home theater on sony s xa 777es sacd player via an arcam fmj preamp processor and fmj multichannel amplifier driving a pair of audio physic virgos an ap avanti center channel a pair of ap brilon. I am pretty sure that i own most editions of dark side of the moon that have come out on cd.

I bought this 180 gram audiophile pressing of dark side of the moon expecting it to sound pretty great. Whilst the dark side of the moon is my favourite floyd album i would also like to clearly state that floyd s wish you wer here animals and lastly the wall are also exquisitely sublime to. Dunno how much better it is than the 30th anniversary edition but listening to it on my ipod classic be rest assured that the album sounds fantastic as it should. However for a so called audiophile pressing i am extremely disappointed with the surface noise clicks and skipping.

But for my money anyway pink floyd have never bettered this album.
